Guests traveling in Economy Class are entitled to a total of 30kg check-in baggage (excluding Super Saver fares, which do not include check-in baggage allowance). Guests traveling in First and Business Class are entitled to a total of 50kg.

The maximum weight allowed for hand baggage is up to 7kg on all Oman Air flights.

The Zero Weight fare is only applicable in Economy Class.

All sporting equipment is considered part of the standard baggage allowance, as long as the total weight and dimensions are within your fare entitlement. For more information, please review our Check-in Baggage Policy.

If the musical instrument fits within the standard hand baggage dimensions and weight, you may carry it in the cabin. If it exceeds the limits, based on availability, you may be able to book our Cabin Baggage Service, which allows you to secure the instrument in the seat next to you. Please contact our Call Centre or your preferred travel agency for more information.

In addition to the standard hand baggage allowance, the following items are also accepted as hand baggage without additional charges:

  • Handbag, pocket book or purse
  • Overcoat, wrap or blanket
  • Umbrella or walking stick
  • Small camera and / or binoculars
  • Reading matter
  • Infant carry basket,carry cot, strollers (for guests traveling with infants)
  • Crutches or collapsible wheelchairs

  • Laptops and portable computers in small bags

  • Musical instruments (must fit the standard hand baggage dimensions and weight (115cm/7kg), otherwise should be purchased as excess hand baggage)

TVs that are 43 inches or smaller may be taken as part of your check-in baggage allowance. TVs between 43 inches and 55 inches will be subject to extra charges, which you can find out about at Special Baggage Charges. TVs that are larger than 55 inches must be transported as cargo items.

This depends on the fare brand you have chosen. Our Super Saver fare only allows hand baggage (up to 7kg). Other fare brands offer a range of baggage allowances, which you can check here.

All tickets for travel between the Indian Sub-Continent and the Gulf Corporation Council countries include free baggage allowance. Please check our fare brands here.

All tickets purchased before 24 February 2020 will have the same baggage allowance shown on the ticket receipt. Tickets issued after 24 February 2020 will be subject to the updated fare brand allowances.

It is not possible to pre-purchase extra baggage weight online for a codeshare flight. However, you may pay at the airport, at the operating carrier’s departing terminal.

If you're traveling from Jeddah or Madinah, you may bring up to 5 litres of Islamic Holy Water, also known as Zamzam water, as check-in baggage in addition to the applicable baggage allowance. However, this is not permitted if you are travelling from other cities in Saudi Arabia. Please note that the water must be sealed and safely packed in government-approved packaging.

The following items are accepted for transportation at your own risk:

  • Fragile or unsuitably packaged items such as antiques, art, bottles, cameras, computer equipment, mirrors, strollers, musical instruments, precision tools, small appliances, sound reproduction equipment and trophies.
  • Irreplaceable or essential items such as antiques, artefacts, car keys, house or other keys, currency, checks, negotiable papers, securities, essential medication, heirlooms, collectible items, irreplaceable business documents, jewellery, precious stones or metals including silverware, natural fur products, optics, contact lenses, paintings and other works of art.
  • Perishable items such as fish, meat, flowers or plants.
  • Oman Air will not be liable for damage, loss, or spoilage of these items. You may choose to carry the item(s) with you if they meet the requirements for carry-on baggage. Essential medication or currency should never be checked.
  • We strongly recommend you do not pack valuable and special items into your check-in baggage.
  • Please use your hand baggage allowance for important documents, cash, fragile or perishable items, keys, jewellery, computers and other personal electronic devices, samples, medicines, medical documents, passport, and other identity papers.

In the unlikely event that your baggage has gone missing, the following documentation must be presented at the closest airport Oman Air serves within 21 days:

  • A completed Baggage Claim Questionnaire (click here for a copy) that was provided when you reported the loss or damage.
  • The initial Passenger Irregularity Report filed at the airport where your travel was completed.
  • Claim portions of the baggage identification labels.
  • Ticket/s, if you did not use an electronic ticket.
  • Boarding card/s.
  • A copy of the passenger's identity card/passport.

Our ticketing contract excludes liability for consequential damages such as inconvenience, car rental expenses, phone call expenses, hotel, or meal costs. Additionally, Oman Air cannot offer refunds on airfare due to baggage discrepancies.

A PIR is a Property Irregularity Report, which is given to you by the local handling agent on arrival, when you report that your baggage has been delayed. The unique reference number on the report helps us track your bag and return it to you as soon as possible.

Once your baggage has been found and, where local laws allow, you'll be contacted by our local handling agent to arrange delivery, subject to customs clearance. If we are unable to deliver your baggage to you, you'll be asked to collect it from our local handling agent at your arrival airport.

If your baggage has been damaged, or there are missing contents, it is important to immediately make a baggage claim while you're at the airport and complete the Damage Irregularity Report before you go through customs. Also, please contact our nearest Oman Air office or our baggage services agents at your destination airport and provide the following information:

  • Name of passenger traveling (as read on ticket)
  • Baggage Irregularity Report reference number (PIR)
  • Flight number and date of travel
  • Airport location where baggage report was filed
  • Any other pertinent information


Note: It is important that guests retain all damaged property until it can be inspected by an Oman Air baggage service agent and a damaged property report is issued. Oman Air may authorize compensation in the form of cash per ticketed passenger for the purchase of essential personal items such as clothing and toiletries, in cases where they are away from their permanent address and the delivery of their baggage has been delayed. Our ticketing contract excludes liability for consequential damages such as inconvenience, car rental expenses, phone call expenses, hotel, or meal costs. Additionally, Oman Air cannot offer refunds on airfare due to baggage discrepancies.

We will try our best to help guests locate an item they may have left on our aircraft or at the boarding gate area. In such cases, you should report the missing item to Oman Air airport staff, telling them where it was last seen. You will be contacted once the missing item has been found.

Oman Air is not liable or responsible for articles that are removed from guests’ baggage by airport security personnel in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

If the baggage got delayed or damaged on a flight with one of our partner airlines, please report it to the airline that operated the flight.
